Pacquiao and Mayweather Sparring Outside the Ring

manny-pacquiaoThere may never be another bout inside the ring between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., but they are have a good time sparring against one another with the war of words reaching its crescendo on Monday.

Pacquiao cited Bible verse when saying the barbs by the best fighter pound for pound in the world did not affect him.

Pacquiao said he was not angry with Mayweather during an interview from Philippines where he was born and raised.

He said he felt sorry for the American boxer because he acts as if he is an uneducated individual. Pacquiao added it was pitiful to watch and he was praying for Mayweather.

Then Pacquiao took a verse from the New Testament’s Book of Matthew saying, “For what is man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul.”

The ongoing barbs between the two boxers came to life last Wednesday when Pacquiao tweeted following the hearing of the Nevada State Commission over a reality show Mayweather has on Showtime.

Pacquiao fights next on November 22 when he meets Chris Algieri, who some believe is a worthy opponent.

At the same time, Mayweather is under contract with Showtime for six fights, with two fights remaining and he has said he will retire after the two fights.

The comments made by Pacquiao on Monday were prompted by postings on social media by Mayweather of a montage of photos of the Filipino fighter on the canvas after being knocked down in a loss in 2012 to Juan Manuel Marquez’

Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter said Showtime and HBO were discussing the possibility of a pay per view spectacular that would be a joint venture.

It is uncertain if that deal would work out, as a bout between these two has not happened for a number of years despite great public demand.

While the odds of the two meeting inside the squared circle get more remote, the fighters continue their social media sparring session outside the ring.
