Kid Galahad Earns Young Boxer of the Year

kid-galahadKid Galahad the super bantamweight star won the Young Boxer of the Year award. The award will be given to Galahad by the Boxing Writers Club next month in London at The Savoy during their yearly dinner.

The young Galahad who is just 24 had already won the Commonwealth, British and European titles while a professional and on Saturday earned the IBF World Youth belt when he defeated Adeilson Dos Santos in decision. With that win, Galahad increased his record as a professional to 18-0 with 9 knockouts.

Kid Galahad said how much of an honor it was to win the award and Mick Hennessy his promoter said the award was richly deserved.

Morrissey said in just three fights Kid Galahad had earned the Commonwealth, British and European titles and established himself as a top super bantamweight in the world. Morrissey predicts it will be only a short time before Galahad is the world champion.

In 2014, Galahad has defeated Dos Santos, a Brazilian, Fred Mundraby an Australian and Sergio Prado a Spaniard.

In those bouts, Kid Galahad has lost hardly any rounds, much less the fight. Near the end of 2014, he hopes to fight either Carl Frampton or Scott Quigg.

Last week Galahad said he was completely confident he will fight for the world title soon and hopes he will fight either Quigg or Frampton. Galahad said either of the two fighters would be fine to face, as he believes he can beat both of them on the same night.

He says he deserves a shot at one or the other as his record shows his talent and it is time he step up to the next level and win a world title.

Only last weekend, Galahad defeated Dos Santos with two knockdowns in the bout. Galahad was born in Qatar but moved to England at age three and has lived there since.
