Pacquiao-Algieri Under Card Packed with International Intrigue

Manny-Pacquiao-versus-Chris-AlgieriThe Manny Pacquiao versus Chris Algieri pay-per-view welterweight world championship in itself will be a great bout.

However, the undercard on that night will be loaded with exciting battles that will include world champions Jessie Vargas and Vasyl Lomachenko. Zou Shiming the undefeated top-five contender and the most iconic athlete from China will also feature on a card loaded with international intrigue.

The card is promoted by Sands China and Top Rank. The event is set for November 22 at the Venetian Macau’s Cotai Arena.

Of the eight fighters on the card, six different countries will be represented.

Ukraine’s Lomachenko will be defending his WBO title for the first time in the featherweight division against Chonlatarn Piriapinyo the mandatory challenger and No. 1 contender who hails from Thailand.

Vargas is from Las Vegas, Nevada and will defend the WBA super lightweight title that night against Antonio DeMarco the former world title holder, who is from Mexico.

A WBO elimination bout for the flyweight world title will pit China’s Zou and Thailand’s Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym.

Bob Arum from Top Rank and Hall of Famer as a promoter said the sponsors were proud they can present three very significant international bouts that have championship repercussions as an undercard to a bout with Pacquiao who is arguably one of the best fighters pound for pound in the world.

Even the boxers expressed how happy and excited they were to be on the card. Lomachenko, for example, will be fighting in just his fourth fight as a professional after winning the world title in his third fight against Gary Russell.

The undercard shows as well how the sport of boxing is international with boxers from across the globe holding the different world titles in the different weight classes.
