Roc Nation Sets Up Premier Boxing Card

Roc Nation, a company owned by entertainer Jay Z, announced that it was entering the boxing promoting business back in August and is now ready to put up its first card.

The company made an announcement on Tuesday and said they had agreed for 3 cards to be on T.V. on Fox Sports1, with the debut card of called Throne Boxing set for January 9 in New York.

David Itskiwitch the COO of the company said that everyone at Roc Nation was excited to announce their very first boxing card along with their television and series deal. He also said that it would be a terrific evening with fantastic entertainment and great music to kick off the fighting spirit of Throne Boxing, a series that will be something special in the boxing.

The card will start with a welterweight prospect with Dusty Hernandez-Harrison (24-0, 13 knockouts) from Washington D.C. competing against Tommy Rainone (22-5-1, 4 knockouts) from Plainview NY. It is scheduled to be a 10-round bout. The remainder of the card has not been announced yet.

The venues and dates for both shows, which are to be bought on network, are not set yet, although Itskowitch stated that the company hopes to release them in the first 6 months of 2015 and is currently seeking venues in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Other than the fights taking place January 9, of which one dollar of each ticket that is sold will go to the Muhammad Ali Center as a donation, Roc Nation said that there are going to be live performances that are not yet announced.

Itskowitch, the former chief operating officer at Golden Boy, recently joined Roc Nation Sports when it entered the boxing business back in August. He and the rest of Roc Nation are eager to make it the best show boxing will see this year.
